James Brown Obituary

James “ Jimmy” Brown also known as JB was born November 9th 1953 in Paterson NJ to the late James and Ruth Brown. He departed this life on May 29th, 2019 at St. Joseph's Hospital ,Wayne, NJ.

He was educated thru the Paterson Public School Systems and spent most of his childhood on Grand Street.

Jimmy met and married Darlene Ellerbee and to this union their daughter Lashanna was born.

He was employed by Met-Life Stadium for over 20 years. He retired and obtained new employment at the Prudential Center in Newark NJ for more than 15 years. Jimmy decided that "hard labor"  ( watching security cameras) was not for him. He would always say the doctor said I can't lift anything heavier than a Q-Tip so he became a crossing guard for the Paterson School System making many angry motorist wait until he decided they could go.

Jimmy's Passion and First Love was his family. He loved cook-outs and family gatherings. He had a passion for exotic foods and wouldn't hesitate to eat such items as alligator, stingrays, snails, frog legs and he even was bold enough to eat a live worm from a conch shell while vacationing in the Bahamas! Boy did he pay for that one that nite.

Jimmy was well known for his personal greetings: “ Happy Birthday and I'm Peachy"

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Doreen Dickerson. Jimmy leaves to cherish his loving memories, his loving daughter,  LaShanna Brown; His brother, Eugene "Butch" Brown ( Linda ); two nieces, Nicole Rountree (Gerald) and Mykia Fleming (Darnell); one special Uncle George “Sonny” Booker; two Aunts,  Mary Shivers (NC) and Dorothy Brown (PA);  Special Cousins, Joan Prince, Nannie Burroughs, Nadine Mansilla, Miesha Mansilla, Alona De-Berry Wells, Gerard Booker, Dana Holdman and Hanif Smith; Cherished and Devoted Cousin Ruth Stokes; two Godsons,  Namir Chandler and Deven Fleming; one great niece,Dream Heming; His devoted friends, Timmy Readus, Eric Dixon, Timmy Mungo and Darrin “D-Boy" Sumblin; Special and Devoted friend, Veronica Milner-Jones and a host of other relatives and friends.
